Treatex Exterior Oils are manufactured on a base of natural sustainable raw materials including Sunflower oil, Soy-bean oil, natural waxes and are free of toxic substances. Treatex Exterior Oils are the ideal new or renovation finish for decking, cladding, doors, windows, garden structures and other exterior joinery.
Treatex Exterior Oils penetrate deeply into timber surfaces and in a similar way to bark, attach to the wood capillaries providing protection against extreme climate conditions through a highly water repellent, weather and UV resistant surface that can prevent the formation of cracks and swelling in the surface after treatment.
We strongly recommend a trial application prior to starting the project. Our handy 50ml samples are perfect to test application and finish.

Treatex Exterior Oils work best on unfinished timbers. Exotic and pressure treated timbers should be allowed to weather for approximately 3 months before finishing. Previous finishes which stop Exterior Oils penetrating into the timbers (e.g. paints and other closed finishes) must be fully removed prior to application. Previous porous finishes should be lightly sanded before over coating. When over coating a previously finished surface, a trial application is essential. Flaking or peeling finishes must be fully removed prior to application. Ensure the timber is dry and free from possible contaminates e.g. algae, grease, dirt, dust etc. Timbers susceptible to mould and fungi should be treated first with a suitable preservative. We advise that when using Exterior Oils, sufficient product is purchased to complete the whole project and when more than one tin is required it is advisable to mix them together before use. The timber must have a moisture content below 18% and the ambient temperature must be greater than 8oC/<60% humidity during application and drying.
Stir tins thoroughly, before and during use. Use a brush, roller or spray to evenly apply Treatex Exterior Oils in the same direction as the wood grain, allowing approximately 60-70ml per m2. Pay particular attention to the end grain, where you should apply liberally. After approximately 12 hours the first coat can be overcoated. Apply with a brush or roller a second coat of Exterior Oils, again allowing roughly 60-70ml per m2. After the second coat leave for approximately 12 hours to dry. A third coat can be applied if necessary. Finishing with Exterior Oils Clear will add further protection against wear and abrasion. For decking, we recommend applying Treatex Anti-slip Decking Oil.
- 1L will cover approximately 15m² in one coat depending on the timber and method of application.
- 2.5L will cover approximately 37m² in one coat depending on the timber and method of application.
